So You Wanna Be a Rock Superstar? Sunset Marquis.
Once every so often you find that certain special place that just reminds you of where exactly you want to be. Quietly tucked away in a nook a block below Sunset I found my happy place. Welcome friends, you’ve arrived at Rock ‘n’ Roll heaven, and it’s called: Sunset Marquis. If only the walls could talk at this legendary address, it has been the backdrop for “Tantrums. Epic break-ups. Impromptu concerts by certifiable legends. Album wrap parties. Movie wrap parties. And parties where some people simply chose to become unwrapped.”
More tattoos per guest than any other leading hotel… That’s what the card holder had printed on it when I grabbed my keys from the front desk. It took everything in me not to swipe them right from the girl’s hands and run to my room to check out how the rockstars really do live. Because let’s face it…I’m just a

I knew I stumbled upon a winner the moment I found myself walking around thinking of all the reasons I needed to come back. I would find every excuse in the book to frequent this West Hollywood gem. Concert?…Pre-game at RESTAURANT!…Music Awards?…Crash in a villa!…Girls Night Out?…Bar 1200!…Staycation?…SIGN. ME. UP!
The service, property, atmosphere and most of all the history lures me back to this phenom property over & over again. The walkways pose as Rock n’ Roll museums with the most captivating signed portraits and memorabilia of those like Morrissey, Ozzy and Slash who all love the property as much as I do. Yours truly has even been caught red handed by the incredibly talented, Gabriel Byrne, for trying to imitate a pose next to a photograph of the great, Dave Grohl. While doing a balancing act on the ledge of a chair with my arms crossed, he stopped for a moment and directed me in his great accent, “A little more to the left…put your head down…don’t smile…there!”
If we were anymore Hollywood, our pool would be shallow at both ends…
And then there is RESTAURANT. RESTAURANT serves up meals that you will dream about for months on end. My concert buddy (a fellow rockstar mom) and I started a trend where we would eat there every Friday night in December before running up to the famed Sunset Strip to catch Camp Freddy play their Xmas Residency at The Roxy… Is it Christmastime yet? Hear that Sunset Marquis? This is a request for my standing reservation! While you can never go wrong with the filet, I highly suggest trying the “My Way” Chinese Duck Breast marinated in green tea, served with caramelized potatoes with a plum reduction or the Kurobutta Pork Flat Iron Steak with caramelized fiji apples, huckleberries and whipped potato in a smoky sage infusion. Girlfriend…don’t go worrying about those calories…dance them off later a the show!
