The “Best City Hotel Winner” in the International Restaurant and Hotel Awards and a finalist in the “Luxury Boutique Hotel” category in the World Luxury Hotel Awards, the Mine Boutique Hotel is THE place you want to stay when visiting Buenos Aires! If you read my previous piece about this vibrant city, hopefully you have added this must-see destination to your travel wish list. When you begin planning your trip and are looking for accommodation look no further. I highly recommend the exquisite Mine Boutique Hotel located in the trendy Palermo Soho neighborhood of Buenos Aires.

The Mine Hotel is one of the most outstanding properties I’ve stayed at during my travels.

There are a few reasons I say this. First and foremost the service is absolutely outstanding! You know when you’re staying somewhere and you feel genuinely welcome as if you’re at the home of a dear friend? That is the warm feeling the staff at the Mine Hotel create with their impressive hospitality. Every person we encountered during both our stays at the Mine were very friendly and extremely helpful. They genuinely care about each guest and want to ensure you thoroughly enjoy your time not only at their hotel, but in Buenos Aires and Argentina as well. We were never led astray with their spot-on recommendations for restaurants and they always went above and beyond to get us a reservation at some of the prime dining spots. Our transportation including taxis, ferry tickets and airport transfers were all impeccably organized. All of the staff are professional and spoke excellent English. This is unbelievably refreshing if you’ve been struggling to speak coherent Spanish all day.

The owners of the Mine Hotel are an Argentinian couple that had a dream of opening their own boutique hotel after years of traveling and staying in these types of properties. They decided to build the hotel in the neighborhood of Palermo where the one of them grew up. We actually saw one of the owners at the Mine during our visit with his children.

I noticed the warm, friendly manner in which he interacted with all the employees so it isn’t a surprise that guests receive this very same treatment from all staff at the Mine.

You’re probably thinking that the staff must make up for the lack in ambience aren’t you? Wrong indeed! Every inch of the Mine Hotel is stylish and beautifully decorated. This is indeed a LUXURY boutique hotel. The minute you walk into the lobby a wave of relaxation washes over you and you instantly feel yourself retreating to this oasis within the city. It is bright, airy and has a Zen-like feel to it. The architecture and design are sleek and clean. Since it is a boutique hotel there are only twenty rooms which help ensures the property never feels crowded. There is a lovely breakfast area, small lounging area with a large, flat screen TV and a computer for guest use. Outside is a pool that fits nicely with the boutique hotel theme, a smaller size, but completely fine for this lovely property. Greenery and flowers line the outside walls, which makes for a lush and relaxing environment. It really does feel like a little oasis and creates the perfect place to unwind.

The rooms do not disappoint either. They are beautifully decorated keeping to the same theme of the public areas of the hotel. Even though they are quite small, the colors and decor make the rooms very inviting and comfortable. Again it is a boutique hotel so this makes perfect sense. They are well designed, clean and again have the same light, airy feel as the rest of the hotel. You can choose from their Standard Room, Superior Room and the Palermo Suite. We stayed in the Standard and Superior Rooms and both were just lovely. The quietest rooms face the pool and courtyard. We did stay in a street-facing room one night but still didn’t find it that noisy. As one of the world’s lightest sleepers that says a lot coming from me!

I could go on and on about this fabulous find in Buenos Aires but instead I’ll share ten more key highlights about this exquisite property:

  • Centrally located in one of the best areas of the city, Palermo Soho
  • Wonderful, fresh food and fun selection of Happy Hour cocktails (delicious juices and tasty caprioskas!)
  • Safe and secure property
  • GREEN hotel
  • Comfortable beds and pillows
  • Peaceful, Zen glass-enclosed “chill out” space in the center of the hotel
  • Close to all public transport
  • Wi-Fi in rooms and public spaces
  • 24-hour English-speaking concierge
  • Private car available to/from the airport

You really can’t go wrong with the Mine Hotel. Walking into this property after a long day out touring feels like walking into the door of your home. They truly go above and beyond to create a blissful and memorable experience. I guarantee you won’t regret your stay in the Mine Boutique Hotel.

What are some of the key characteristics that create a special accommodation experience for you? We’d love to hear about your favorite boutique hotel properties around the globe!
