“It could be for a fun afternoon of random celebrity sightings. Clooney perhaps?”

It all started one Friday morning this past January with a simple email, doesn’t it always? Clooney? Huh?! My eyes were barely dilated and I had yet to have any type of drink to wake me up a little more when I saw the note from my lovely friend, Tai, addressed to Gabrielle, Kathryn, and myself. I was moving at a snail’s pace within the slow and stop modes so I didn’t even notice the subject at first:

FW: An Evening with President Obama and the Foo Fighters.

What. the. ham & cheese hoagie? Now I’m up and my eyes are going crazy, so I am quickly glancing this email for key words when I read:

An Evening with President Barack Obama and the Foo Fighters
Hosted by Vivica and Will Ferrell
Wednesday, February 15, 2012
Bell Residence

Bel Air, CA

GET OUT! I don’t care what political party you are a member of, this is an invitation you simply can’t refuse. When your favorite band is performing at someone’s home and the guest of honor is the present day President of the United States you R.S.V.P. a big fat YES! Period. It was going to take everything in me not to act like Julia Roberts at the polo match in Pretty Woman and do the Jersey fist pump in my finest Jackie “O” attire while holding up a sign that reads FOObama 2012. Fetch me my pillbox hat!

I didn’t sleep at all the night before. What are the Secret Service going to be like? How awful is traffic going to be? Will Oprah be there? What about Clooney? O M G!!! I forgot about Sir Pauuuuuuuuuuul!!! What if I slipped and called him Barack by accident instead of Mr. President? Oh Lawd. Before I knew it, it was time to shower, blow-out my hair, prep my clothes and accessories while attempting to get Lil’ Miss Thang situated so I could scoot out the door with plenty of time to spare. We were told specifically: *Please note that due to security reasons doors will close promptly at 4:00 PM. I was NOT going to be late for this.

Traffic wasn’t a nightmare, but the rain was. But thankfully for Knox and The Magic Prius, we arrived with no problem. The Secret Service shuttled us to the home of Colleen and Bradley Bell in Hombly Hills, and we were escorted to into the backyard where a full production stage was set up in preparation for the night’s performance.

It was hard not to be giddy. I was trying to control my “TMZ eye twitch,” but it was almost near impossible not to spot the likes of: Don Cheadle, Mila Kunis, Jack Black, Herbie Hancock, Paul ReiserWolfgang Puck and Ricki Lake mingling in the crowd of about 1000. And yes, Mr. “Hotty-pants” Clooney was there as well.

The program began with an introduction by Rashida Jones, followed by Jack Black praising, “Just remember no matter what the other side says, Barack Obama kicks major ass.” Straight off their five-GRAMMY® win on Sunday, the Foo Fighters (Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shifflett, Taylor Hawkins, Pat Smear and Rami Jaffee,) took stage and played an acoustic set including “Skin and Bones,” “My Hero,” “Walk,” “Learn To Fly,” and “Everlong.”

After the performance, while the stage was being prepared for our Commander and Chief, a DJ played a fun mix of R&B, Soul and Funk for the crowd to enjoy before President Obama took stage delivering an address that promised hope and change for the future of the United States.

I’m positive a night like tonight will never happen again. Golden Ticket events like this are so far and few between, and I’ve been to some amazing affairs, but I know there is no way I can or will ever top this night. It is something I thought only happened in the movies. Well this ISHollywood.
