I just wanted to be alone. Well, not exactly. I just needed to tune-out. I needed a few hours where I didn’t need to think, speak or give my opinion via a keyboard. I needed a break from my own brain. I fled to Burke Williams.

I had a reservation for one of their Signature Treatments, Emilee’s Intrigue, and on this particular day I needed it. I really, really wanted needed it. I couldn’t wait to turn my phone off and force myself to be quiet. As I slid the power-off bar and hid my phone at the bottom of my bag, I changed into my swimsuit and spa robe forcing myself to stop thinking. For the next few hours I was no longer a wife, mom, or blogger, I was someone’s client.

Before my treatment, I snuck into the steam room for 15-minutes to put me in the proper state of mind. I couldn’t see two inches past my face and I enjoyed hearing the condensation drip from the ceiling. Suddenly a loud rush of steam would fill the room and I was happy. I just sat there thinking about nothing. I was finally able to relax because there wasn’t a chance I was going to hear, “Mom?…Babe?…Can I have?…I need that…Do you know where…?” Hallelujah.

Obvs this isn’t me, but this is what I felt like!

I then wandered into the Quiet Room so that I could wait to be escorted to my treatment by Toni, my massage therapist or what I would consider, “The woman with the magical hands.” I could tell the moment she said my name this was going to be special. And it was. For the next 75-minutes treated me like the goddess that I’ve always knew I was.

This full-body treatment tapped into my mind, body and soul while indulging all of my senses. I wish I could get into a full-blown description; however it’s almost impossible to remember the details when you are unconscious. Yes, drool, snores, mouth wide-open, I’m sure she thought I was an absolute beaut! I remember soothing music, cozy blankets, hot stone rocks, and the smell of fresh eucalyptus. I remember having to turn over and getting sad because I knew I was halfway through. Sigh, I want to be back there right now. So. Not. Fair.

Burke Williams has available member and non-member rates with spa services ranging from facials and massages to full body treatments. 1. Turning over during the massage is the absolute worst and for the exact reason you gave – “I was halfway through.” Sigh. I want to run away with you next time. I want to run away right now. Even just to sit in the steam room. Heavenly.

  2. How great is the steam room? Drip. Drip. Drip. Whoooooooooooosh!

  3. Sounds like bliss and exactly what the doctor ordered for you! LOVE spa time!

    • I want back. Today. Right now.

  4. I’m not sure there is one of these by me. I want to do a spa trip so badly, but if you are TTC you can’t go in steam rooms or hot baths. I used to love doing that! But perhaps I will book at least a massage for after E3.

    • Hi Trina, Sending you very special vibes! Try and treat yourself to a facial – just as relaxing and BW has great ones! Not sure where you are, but they are all over Southern California and one in San Fran.
