Eagles of Death Metal LBC
It’s the tiny bar where True Blood is filmed. It’s the parking lot the Devil confronted Kyle & Jack in Tenacious D Pick of Destiny. And Sunday night, not only was Alex’s Bar the spot for a mini New Jersey reunion of old friends, but it is where we witnessed one of the greatest bands in the world is perform…ladies and gentlemen…EAGLES OF DEATH METAL.
Talk about not judging a book by its cover, EODM is the farthest thing from death metal as a band could possibly get. And I love, love, love them. They are just cool and the best part is they don’t have to work at it. Jesse Hughes a.k.a. Boots Electric emits awesomeness in its purest form and is a whole ‘lotta rock and roll smothered in groove seksiness.
The moment an EODM song comes on you immediately want to sing, and dance and just be around really fun people. And I was…
Our Mini Jerz Reunion
Opening up with ‘Only Want You’ and closing the show with a cover of Rolling Stone’s ‘Brown Sugar’ was big highlight of this amazing night. The sound was perfect, so was the setlist and while I can’t bare to pick a favorite, as always ‘Wannabe in LA’ once again sticks out in my mind as a flawless gem. (See below for a photo of the setlist.)
The best part? Dancing to EODM with Yo Gabba Gabba’s DJ Lance Rock! Yes!!! He and Toodee are EODM big fans! And guess what…Mr. Rock is even cooler in person and Toodee is BEAUTIFUL.
Southern California is extremely spoiled when it comes to well-known bands playing super small local venues. On any given night there is a major superstar gracing the stage of a small bar entertaining their biggest fans and I’m just out of my mind with excitement that once again, I had the pleasure of witnessing it first hand as opposed as watching clips of it the morning after on YouTube.
For those EODM newbies out there, visit TREND TRIBE RADIO for our Eagles of Death Metal Mix Tape and try some of these tunes on for size. It’s impossible not to move your tush when they start to groove. Eagles of Death Metal make for great summer music especially on warm summer nights and makes me feel like the coolest woman in the world.
Very interested to find out what’s on your summer soundtrack?
Peace, Love, and Death Metal…
