Five Crowns :: The Chef’s Supper Adventure
Change is good. In fact, Five Crowns in Corona del Mar has proven that change is FABULOUS!
I was a special guest of Executive Chef Greg Harrison, and given the privilege of experiencing his brand new, Friday night, Chef’s Supper dining adventure at Five Crowns. Our group enjoyed course after course of one-of-a-kind selections including a thoughtfully paired wine & cocktail selections. Let’s get this straight from the get go, this Five Crowns is nothing like the Five Crowns you remember.
The Kids Are Alright
I immediately knew it was going to be a fantastic night when I sat down, met my fellow diners and The Smiths were being piped through the air. Without missing a beat, the musical British Invasion continued with Morrissey, Depeche Mode, New Order and Radiohead. Flawless. Absolutely flawless. Very nice touch Five Crowns, very nice! I was loving life. Now in retrospect, it was the most perfect sneak peek of what the night had in store for us. I was about to be seated at a rockstar dinner fit for only the best trendsetters.
“The Chef’s Supper will capitalize on skills Harrison learned while working with some of the most recognizable names in the restaurant industry. He gained experience in Japanese precision and ultimate freshness at his last assignment at Morimoto Napa. Prior to that, he soaked up training from the Mina Group at Michael Mina’s Aqua at the St. Regis Monarch Bay Resort, and at NobHill Tavern and SEABLUE Restaurant at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. During his time in Vegas, Harrison also served as executive sous chef at Fiamma Trattoria & Bar at the MGM Grand under the direction of James Beard Award-winning Chef Fabio Trabocchi and Chef Michael White, who has been awarded three stars by the New York Times. Harrison began his career at Roy’s Kahana in Maui, Hawaii, after earning a Certificate of Culinary Arts at Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena.”

I went to Five Crowns for a family dinner about six years ago and it was nothing like you described here in your post. The chicken and waffles look delish!
I love the teeth on the snapper!
The teeth on that snapper freak me out! haha. Looks interestingly delish(everything but the teethy snapper that is)!
The food looks incredible, but what I really love are the song titles as the names of dishes…. cool.
