Eugenia ‘Aunt Jean’ McCann Piantieri
Having grown-up in New Jersey, I do not know someone back home that did not lose someone they knew or loved on September 11, 2011. Because of this, every year I have a difficult time prepping for 9/11. Eleven years later and I still feel there is not enough that can be said or done to properly pay tribute to those we lost and just as important, those left behind. I’m not even a paragraph in, and as I type each word, my eyes are filling up with tears and my heart hurts with pain as though it is 2011 all over again.
On that beautiful September morning, the unthinkable happened and our Katy (McCann) Paterson, lost her Aunt Jean, Eugenia McCann Piantieri in the North Tower. Katy shares her love for her Aunt Jean on her blog, ChamorroChica, where she beautifully writes:
When I was growing up I looked up to my Aunt Jean in so many ways. You know how people have their favorite Aunt or Uncle? My Aunt was that to me. I remember wanting to be just like her in everything she did when I was a little girl. I really admired her. I always felt a kinship and closeness with her. It started when I was a little girl and remained that way as I got older.
Today on The Trend Tribe, in memory of Aunt Jean, those who we lost and to everyone still missing the ones they love, I wanted to share with all of you the photos that Katy took on a recent trip to New York City where she visited the National September 11 Memorial at World Trade Center. Never forget.
Katy, we love you so much. xx
