The Smoking Slipper Diaries :: Vegas Edition
OK, sue me. I have been secretly praying this whole time that the smoking slipper would make a HUGE comeback. Against the holy gospel according to the Book of Stilettos, I even dropped the bomb on Trend friend, Kathryn and I swear I heard her gasp in horror when I mentioned my wish a few months back!
Well guess what suckahs? My wish has come true because they are BAAAAACK! The smoking slipper is here, fierce as ever, and my feet are officially off strike and on style (c’mon, sing it with me…) vay-cay-shun!
If you’ve been keeping up with me on Instagram, you’ve seen my goldies prancing around Vegas! While in Sin City this weekend for The Trend Tribe’s Influencer Weekend, CUSP by Neiman Marcus, at Fashion Show Mall, pulled out all the stops, rolled out the red carpet, and then proceeded to spoil our Trendsetters like rockstars. Really. From beauty makeovers at Tom Ford, to goodie bags filled with Neiman Marcus brand nail polish + swag, jewelry from CUSP by Neiman Marcus, SUGAR tinted lip stain by fresh, Rose lip conditioner by AERIN, Oribe Shampoo & Conditioner, and even a copy of the infamous Neiman Marcus Christmas Book, it was the best possible way to kick-off our time in Las Vegas. But that’s not all…
Just last week I shared with our readers Fashion Trends :: What to Wear? based on my favorite pieces and themes from the 2012 Fall Fashion Preview decided on by Neiman Marcus’s Style Czar, Ken Downing, the Senior Vice President and Fashion Director. Then just when I thought things couldn’t get better than front row at a Wayne Newton show, or the chance to try out my high-kicks and become a Vegas showgirl with headdress and all, CUSP by Neiman Marcus invited us to pick a smoking slipper to capture ’24 Hours in Vegas’. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Decisions. Decisions. Leopard, rock star studs, glitter, sparkles, snakeskin, oh…my! Despite my rock and roll ‘tude, I jumped all over the Sam Edelman Aster glitter goldies because they were pure Vegas magic.

And magic they were! Not only did the compliments keep coming from friends, strangers, and even shady lurkers on Instagram, I was getting pinged by everyone wanting to find out ‘Where did I find that fabulous smoking slipper?’ Another major plus? It is a fuller shoe. I wear an 8.5, so I was able to buy an 8.5.
No guessing, no games, the perfect fit! Many fashionistas I’ve chatted with have avoided entertaining the idea of purchasing the smoking slipper because of the narrow design; however the Sam Edelman is fashionable, full, AND super-duper-comfy. As in puffy clouds from heaven fluffy. C’mon… How many times have you walked around Las Vegas wishing you had the nerve to ‘Pull a Britney’? This Sam Edelman smoking slipper is the answer.
“What happens in Vegas…NEVER happened.”
4 am. Sunday morning. OK, so maybe it was a little Britney-ish.
For our readers who are unfamiliar with CUSP by Neiman Marcus, imagine a world that satisfies “that get-it-before-anyone-else craving” you feel about fashion? Does that happen to you? It does to me. The moment you see someone dressed in your favorite piece you immediately quote the Foo Fighter’s in your head and sing “Done, done…on to the next one. Done, I’m done…” Next fashion trend that is. Once it hits TV or the Housewives franchise, it’s time for a change. Fashion is objective, but CUSP by Neiman Marcus is trendsetting.

What city should we rock the shoes next?
