Isabella Oliver :: Great Pregnancy Style
When you are pregnant, just getting dressed every day can be a struggle. Add to that getting dressed for work every day, or any kind of special event and you can feel totally and completely overwhelmed with the lack of fashionable options out there. After all, pregnancy style is tough, and how do you keep your fabulous style when you’re holding a basketball in your shirt? And how do you go OUT and rock your fabulous-ness when you feel like a house?
So I went to Vegas last weekend, at 8 months pregnant, for a blogging conference and weekend with my Trend Tribe Influencers. I had been freaking out for WEEKS about what the heck I was going to wear that would make me a.) look amazing and b.) feel amazing as I met with other bloggers and rocked the glamorous life in Las Vegas. Um yeah… I was coming up WAY empty.
And then I looked at a girlfriend’s pictures on Facebook. She looked so chic, so put together, so glamorous… and so pregnant. What the hell? Woman, where did you GET THOSE CLOTHES?
I assumed since Isabella Oliver is a British brand, they were only available across the pond, and that I was stuck with the same ol’ same ol’ here in the US of A. Much to my surprise I checked out the website and was pleasantly surprised to find that YES! They deliver to the states and all over the world. AND that they were happy to dress me for the Influencer Weekend!
The STYLES! The absolutely gorgeous colors and style and Imusthaveoneofeverything!! My fashion rep had been saved and I would not disgrace myself in Las Vegas… well at least not with how I looked.
When I received my outfit for the conference I was amazed. The Ruched Wrap T (one of their biggest sellers) was soft jersey, a gorgeous blue color and showed off the bump perfectly. It was so flattering that I felt for the first time a little less like a house, and a little more like the PYT I used to be before I got pregnant. (Well, maybe not so young, but you get it.) The black Lizzie Skirt that was paired with it? Ingenious! The design featured not the obnoxious full panel that most late stage pregnancy clothes have, or the demi that cuts into the bump and makes it angry, but a fantastic soft, scooped waistband that still sat on my hips appealingly, but then rested below the bump, avoiding that tender, way-too stretched out skin. Paired with some black boots and tights? Oh the hotness. AND the professionalism! I looked good and felt good and was able to sit through hours of speakers without feeling uncomfortable and large.
But the true test? My going-out outfit for Saturday. When it came in the mail, I pulled it out and just stared. It was cobalt blue, fairly long and ruched, all the way from mid-waist to the hemline. What the hell was THIS going to look like on? With fingers crossed I slid the stretchy jersey fabric down, over the basketball bump and goggled at what I saw in the mirror. For the first time I didn’t just feel human. I looked HOT. And not just as-hot-as-you-can-look-8-months-pregnant, hot. The fabric was thick enough to cover any unsightly bulges, the length came just to the knee and the ruching made sure that it hugged every bodacious curve.
YEEHAW! Mama was ready to party!!
And rock that Ruched Midi Dress I did. A pair of killer heels, some great earrings and I was off and running for 9 straight hours (!!!) of restaurants, lounges and Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp. The dress never lost it’s stretch and I never lost my groove, even after I’d kicked off the heels and was lounging around the Aria Sky Suite eating Belgian waffles at 1:30am.
My only lament? That I only have 8 more weeks to wear everything. If I had known earlier? I would have been buying pieces before the bump even made an appearance. The best part is though, I can wear some pieces after the fact… because as much as I’d like to believe the post baby body will be back the day I deliver? Ha! And they offer fabulous nursing options and cover ups, just in case that post baby body takes a little while to come back.
Check out Isabella Oliver and let me know which style YOU like best?? The beautifully cut work wear? The comfortable yet stylish ruched and wrapped tops? Or the long, slinky dresses? Past the nine month mark? Then make sure to check out their BAUKJEN Womens Clothing line.
