GIVEAWAY :: My Favorite Skincare (And I’ve Tried Them All)

GIVEAWAY :: My Favorite Skincare (And I’ve Tried Them All)

UPDATE: We repeatedly attempted to reach the winner of this giveaway to no avail. Gabrielle, wherefore were’t thou?

So, after several weeks of hoping Gabrielle was not lost down a well, or in a mall during Christmas shopping, we are mandated to choose a new winner, who is:

Linda Bowen

Look here!

Congrats, Linda!

****

I’m always searching for the skincare holy grail.

I’ve tried serum after lotion after cleanser after cream, and usually come away disappointed. I have sensitive skin prone to breakouts and sometimes it seems nothing works on me. I’ve shelled out hundreds of dollars on the next big thing and kick myself when all it gives me is a new pimple. Over the years, I’ve fine tuned my process: first, I ask for a sample and if and when my skin doesn’t explode in hives or zits, I purchase the product. In all this time, only a handful of skincare products stand out and make it to my rotation.

Therapon Skincare

I received the entire line as a gift, and so was able to try everything from the cleanser to the night cream. The complete Skin Renewal System consists of a wash, gel, exfoliant, and moisturizer, and I love them all. The night cream is a little thick for my taste, but waking up in the morning hydrated and plumped is well worth it. The NuPeel is sold separately, but it’s also a must have. It’s a gentle exfoliant that works wonders for tired, dry skin. I use it on my hands, too.

Muvazi

This is my newest favorite. I purchased this all-natural line a few months ago and happily discovered that my face responded well to the “secret” oat glucan ingredient in its cleanser and treatment creams. Anti-aging (hallelujah!) is its selling point, and I can report that my skin feels healthy, clean, and less red when I use its moisturizer and serum. There’s also an under eye cream included in the line, which takes care of that area just fine, although I still prefer my Skinceuticals because I need a lot of extra help to not look like a zombie in the morning.

Cellnique

This line is also a recent fave. My skin is congested (you totally wish you were me right now) in addition to all my other epithelial issues, and I believed that I’d always have clogged pores, little annoying blackheads and those super sucky underground bumps that never go away. When I had a facial, the esthetician spent 30 minutes on extraction because my skin was that clogged with oil and whatever it is that’s in my skin that makes it look like a pineapple. I tried Cellnique at the suggestion of a friend and received the Advanced Bio Renewal Masque, Vital Repair Cleaning Milk, and Amino Collagen C Intense Set, and truly, really, honestly noticed a big difference in my skin tone. I know it wasn’t just me, either, because after a month of using Cellnique, I had a facial and the esthetician didn’t even spend FIVE MINUTES on extractions. That’s a big milestone for me. My favorite product of this trio is the Amino C set, which consists of a vitamin C serum and hyaluronate acid, because I’ve noticed my skin scars have lightened after a few months of using it, and I just look brighter. I like to look brighter.

Ren

There aren’t enough capital letters in the universe to show how much I LOVE this product. Yes, it smells like fish. Quite a bit in fact, but the non-greasy formulation and the way it makes my skin glow cannot be overlooked. I put this on at night and feel more rested and youthful in the morning. It’s the one product I will never, ever be without. I have oily skin, too, and usually am loathe to put more oil on my face. This seems to absorb quickly though and it is a nice boost to what I normally use to ease fine lines and crepeiness.

Skinceuticals CE Ferulic

Another beloved favorite, CE Ferulic is touted to blast free radicals and protect the skin. I just adore how it tightens my skin and makes it soft and supple all at the same time. I’ve noticed my skin tone has become more even in the months since I’ve used it, too. I apply CE Ferulic in the morning and swear I notice the difference when I skip a day because my skin looks more sallow and droopy than usual.

Roche Posay Anthelios

Non-greasy, mattifying, and thin enough that you don’t feel you’re slathering plaster on your face, this is my hands-down favorite sunscreen. Again, most sunscreens make me break out or feel greasy, and Anthelios is one of the very few I’ve tried that don’t make me look like an oil slick. With protection ranging from 25-60, there’s a Anthelios for everyone.

  1. Over the last few years I’ve had the worst skin changes. I hit my mid-30s and I am going through puberty all over again with the acne. Then the next minute I’m super dry because if the season changes. Meh!

  2. I would love better skin texture, I miss the brightness of younger skin. After 40 I seem to be dry, and dull. Some days it’s like being a teenager, acne is just a cruel trick at this age! Any help would be a gorgeous favor!!!

  3. I agree with Nichole… I’m mid-40’s and acne…. REAAAALY?? And oily skin, wrinkles… etc. I leave the house looking as good as I can really accomplish, then 5 minutes later, I look like… well, let’s just say… NOT good! HELP!!!

  4. My issue= fine lines around eyes

  5. wrinkles around the eyes, and forehead. Nothing I have tried seems to work very well.

  6. I am in my mid fifties and still have occasional breakouts. Have redness, large pores and dull skin. Not many wrinkles yet.

  7. I have melasma and hydroquinon dries out my skin. I would love to find a product that makes feel hydrated but lightens my dark spots.

    • Yeah!!! You won. Congrats Gabrielle! Please email us at nicole at thetrendtribe dot com to let us know where to send your gift!

  8. I want one of everything you’ve shared in this post! I’m especially intersted in the all natural Muvazi products and would love to try the sunscreen. Thanks for sharing all of these wonderful finds!

  9. Large pores and wrinkles!

  10. Whiteheads. I have suffered from acne my entire life and I always seem to have a blemish or two

  11. Wrinkles! My biggest skincare concern has always been wrinkles. Or at least they have been since my early 20s!

  12. It has been years that my skin developed more freckles and dark spots around my cheek. Skin tone always oily on the T area and dry on other spot.

  13. Large pore around my nose areas and blackheads. Can see wrinkles on my forehead already and hope to get rid of it.

  14. ugh! congested skin is my biggest problem! i’m totally going to check out Cellnique! And the Roche Posay Anthelios is such a great product that can be found at the drugstore! I’m a huge of their sunscreen!

  15. My most annoying skincare issue, aside from the odd zit, is dark circles, redness, and dullness. I’m only 22, what the heck? I had to switch back to dept. store brands when I couldn’t afford Clinique anymore…

  16. Thanks for the chance to win. I have rosacea and finding products suitable for my skin is not always easy. Also in my forties(just turned 41) so important to find things to help aging skin.
