Jonathan Adler 100 Ways to Happy Chic Your Life
My good friend, Kristin, gave me this book for Christmas and I am in love with it. Not only does it provide page after page of mid-century modern chicness, but there are also DIYs for you to do to get the look in your own home and design tips. The colors are vibrant and you get Jonathan’s trademark with throughout. Be sure to brush up on your “Happy Chic Speak” with the glossary in the back! This book is perfect for anyone looking to “zhoosh” up their decor, or just dream about it.
There are many make-your-own photo book sites out there but Blurb is, by far, my favorite. Their site and finished projects are gorgeous and the user interface is extremely easy to navigate. There is an insane number of options to choose from to create cherished family mementos or stunning business collateral. I recently made a soft bound book, had it reformatted to be an eBook for the iPad and a PDF for emailing to friends and family. And it was all so easy!
Belkin iPhone Camera Remote Control and Holder
Sure you can flip the camera around on you iPhone to get a selfie but you can only squeeze 2 maybe 3 people in the frame. And most of the time it isn’t the most flattering angle for your chin or arm. The Belkin Camera Holder and Remote lets you turn your phone camera in to a virtual photo studio. Set your camera in the holder and set it almost anywhere to capture that group shot, candid image or just better self portraits. My camera roll is filled with awesome family pictures we never would have been able to get on our own.
211 W. 2nd St., Santa Ana, CA 92701 (714) 972-1172
If you haven’t yet been down to Santa Ana’s Artist Village you simply must go. Many dining options are available but one of my faves is Lola Gaspar. Located on the Promenade, the patio is small but perfect on a sunny weekend afternoon. The restaurant focuses on small plates featuring local ingredients with a Spanish influence. The drink menu features unique artisan cocktails and tantalizing sangrias. The Carnitas Tacos were insanely delicious and don’t even think of leaving before trying the Butterscotch Pot de Creme. I can’t wait to go back for more.
I won an online contest early in December for items by Mud Australia. I had been a fan of the hand-made porcelain vessels for a while but had not yet bought anything. When the boxes arrived, and I opened the carefully wrapped bowls, and was instantly blown away. Inside, I found the most simple yet unique serving pieces. Glazed with shine on the inside only while the outside is kept matte, the colors pop. I immediately worked these in to all of my holiday entertaining. Perfect for every day use and dishwasher safe, these are bowls meant to be used not carefully kept on a shelf. These are also an awesome gift idea for your design loving friends.
